Wyoming Family Vacations

Alabama - Georgia |  Hawaii - Maryland
Massachusetts - New Jersey |  New Mexico - South Carolina
South Dakota - Wyoming

Wyoming Have you ever wanted to head out west, to experience what it’s like to be a cowboy? Then look no further than the state of Wyoming for your next vacation. The “Cowboy State” will have something to please every member of your family.

A great place to start your trip is in Casper. You can find vast amounts of information on the history and culture of Wyoming here. The National Historic Trails Interpretive Center provides the viewpoints and narratives from the many different groups that settled in Casper. This center also provides state of the art presentations on the many pioneer trails that met at Casper. If you are looking for more history, make sure to catch Casper during June so you can see the annual reenactments of the Pony Express. While here, don’t miss your opportunity to enjoy the outdoor attractions that Casper has to offer. Take a guided fishing trip with Adventurequest Fishing Guide Service, whose specialty is fishing for rainbow trout and walleye.

To experience more of Wyoming’s unique culture, make sure to plan a trip to Wyoming’s capitol city of Cheyenne. Head on over to the Wyoming State Museum to explore a variety of exhibits that detail the history of Wyoming. The Nelson Museum of the West provides more western culture. Here you can view exhibits featuring native American and cowboy artifacts, 19th century weaponry, and even outlaw memorabilia. Don’t miss the chance to see the Wyoming State Capitol Building. This building is one of the most historically significant buildings in the state and is a designated National Historic landmark.

Cody is great place to take in the history of one of the West’s most famous hero’s, “Buffalo Bill”. The city is even named in his honor (W.F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody). Take a trip down to the Buffalo Bill historical center, where you can learn more about the public and private lives of Buffalo Bill. The museum also seeks to set the legend of Buffalo Bill into the history and myth of the Wild West. Cody also lies only an hour away from the famous Yellowstone National Park. This, the largest park in the lower 48 states, can’t be missed.

Wyoming has so much more to offer. You can’t take a trip to Wyoming without taking in one of the many rodeos throughout the state. The National of Museum of Wildlife Art is another great stop, where you can see over 4,000 different works of art. The Cheyenne Botanical Gardens is another amazing stop. Heated 100% from solar power, half the electricity they use comes from the sun.
