Virginia Are you looking for a vacation that will not only entertain your family, but also allow them to see some of the most important sites in American history? Look no further than Virginia for your next trip! Take a look and see what this state has to offer your family.

Take a trip over to the beautiful city of Virginia Beach. Here you can enjoy a wide variety of different outdoor activities. For some beach fun, head down to the False Cape, where you can enjoy over six miles of unspoiled beaches, 12 primitive campsites, and nine miles of hiking/biking trails. For more outdoor fun, check out the First Landing State Park, where you can enjoy all sorts of outdoor fun on 2,888 acres and 19 miles of trail. The Atlantic Wildfowl Heritage Museum is another cool place to check out where you can see a wide array of wildfowl artifacts and art. Make sure to check out the many other beaches around the city as well.

Norfolk is another great place to take your family. The Cannonball Trail is a must-see while in Norfolk. Here you can take a self-guided tour through 400 years of Norfolk’s history. There is also a large variety of military monuments you can see here. Check out any of these: the Armed Forces Memorial, the Civil War Trails, the Westpoint Monument, the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, and the Macarthur Memorial, to name but a few. Another fun place to check out while in Norfolk is the Norfolk Botanical Garden, where you can enjoy a variety of gardens on 155 acres.

Richmond is another great place to visit while in the state of Virginia. Check out the wonderful historical sites that this city has to offer your family. The American Civil War Center allows you to explore the Civil War through the eyes of three major groups: the Union, the Confederates, and African-Americans. Then you can head next door to the Richmond National Battlefield Park, where you can see where some of the most important battles of the Civil War were fought. Butterflies Live! Is another great event to check out during this summer at the Lewis-Ginter Botanical Gardens. Here you can see a wide variety of tropical butterflies as they emerge from their cocoons. The Edgar Allen Poe Museum is another great place to check out to learn more about the life and work of the great American author.

There are still so many things to see in the state of Virginia! Check out the Booker T. Washington Monument, where you can learn about the famous African-American philosopher. Come see Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson. There are a wide variety of fun outdoor places and parks to check out as well.
