Make your first stop at the state capitol, Oklahoma City, for a view of the beautiful canal flowing alongside the delightful downtown restaurants and cafes. For a thrill, hop on one of the water taxis that tours the canal. Your family should head to the Oklahoma City Museum of Art to see one of the best art collections the state has to offer. For more downtown excitement, take a ride on the Oklahoma Spirit Trolley. Then head to the Myriad Botanical Gardens, stretched across 17 acres of gorgeous landscaped gardens. In Tulsa, another popular Oklahoma destination, visit Philbrook Museum to see some of the best traveling art exhibitions in the country. For art that is unique to Oklahoma, stop by the Gilcrease Museum, where you can view one of the best collections of Western art in the US. Cherry Street and Utica Square will satisfy your appetite for shopping. During the summer, head to the Discovery Amphitheater to see live performances of the musical “Oklahoma!”

Lawson/Fort Still is home to some of the most intriguing historical attractions in the state. Here you can see the Fort Sill Museum, which features exhibits on the Frontier Army, Native Americans, and the Field Artillery. You can even visit the grave of the famous Native American warrior Geronimo. Many other historical venues, including the Museum of the Great Plains, the Red River Trading Post, and the Percussion Arts Society Museum, are here for your family to enjoy. For more Oklahoma adventure, enjoy outdoor recreation at the Frontier City amusement park. Take a swim in the beautiful natural swimming pools of Turner Falls Park. See a variety of animals and stunning natural scenery at the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge, as well as the Woolrac Ranch, Museum, and Wildlife Preserve.
