Family Ski Vacations

Family Ski Vacation

Colorado offers the best variety in skiing and is the favorite with skiers year after year.

One of the top resort areas in Colorado is Breckenridge. This popular resort provides perhaps the most picturesque setting of all resorts. With it many shops and variety of lodging choices, Breckenridge (Summit County) offers one of the best values in skiing. Nearby Keystone, Frisco, Dillon, and Arapahoe Basin all add to the appeal of the Breckenridge area.

Vail and Beaver Creek are just west on I-70 and offer great family ski vacations experiences. Of the more popular areas, these ski resorts offer some of the highest verticals in Colorado as well as numerous ski lifts to insure you spend more time on the slopes and not in line. Perhaps one of the finest benefits of skiing here is the balance offered between beginner, intermediate, and advanced runs. This allows families of all ages and levels enjoy time on the slopes.

Winter Park is the resort that is closest to Denver. Offering three mountains Winter Park provides ample opportunity to test your skiing or snowboarding abilities. The main limitation here is a lack of shops and restaurants. Otherwise, Winter Park offers great skiing as well as more snow than all of the Colorado resorts.

Aspen, located about 4 hours from Denver, is one of the most easily recognized names in ski resorts. Comprised of a five-mountain region, Aspen offers fabulous opportunities to skiers. Family ki vacation packages in Aspen can be costly and snowboarding is not allowed on Aspen Mountain, though it is at the other peaks.

There are other great ski resorts, not only in Colorado, but throughout the US. The east coast offers wonderful resorts like Snowshoe, West Virginia, and Killington, Vermont. The Midwest has a much more limited offering of ski areas, but they are convenient for those not wanting to drive long distances or pay high prices for family ski vacations.
